Pet Allergies

Pets are some of the most beloved beings in the world and are an important member of the family. We love them and cherish their company. What harm can these adorable, harmless animals probably cause? Unfortunately, a lot.

With pet animals, one must deal with animal hair or fur, urine, saliva and their dead skin also known as dander. An allergy to these is among the most common allergies we see. These allergens can gather in home furniture, clothes and other surfaces too. In India, the popularity and population of pets have been increasing at a rapid rate, and one must take proper precaution to prevent a pet allergy.

How to Triggers Pet Allergy

Pet saliva, urine and dander are primary triggers of a pet allergy. Although animal hair/fur is not an allergen, it can collect urine, saliva and dander, and carry them to different places.

Pet Allergy Symptoms

People suffering from pet allergies may experience symptoms like sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, coughing, tightness in the chest, short breaths, wheezing, watery, red or itchy eyes, and skin rashes.

How to Manage Pet Allergy

The optimum way to prevent pet allergies is to stay away from them and avoid areas where they live. If you own a pet, keep them out of your home. If they can’t be kept outside, you should be ready to take appropriate preventive measures. Animal hair and dander are sticky, so you must keep your pets away from your bedroom at least. Always change clothes after prolonged exposure to pets. Vacuum your house very often to get rid of hair and dander, and wear a dust mask while doing it. Keep your pets clean and ask someone in the house with no pet allergy to wash them often.
